The Syrah and Viognier are co-fermented in tank with 75% destemmed fruit, 25% whole Syrah clusters. Wine goes through both native yeast and malolactic fermentation before aging for 12 months sur lies in 55% new French oak. Bottled without filtration.
Ratings
Winemaker David Ramey sources from both Cole Creek and Rodgers Creek vineyards to make this wine, cofermenting it with 11% Viognier. Crushed rock, garrigue, gamy meat and lavender appear and accent an earthy, full-bodied core of silky texture and luscious dark cherry.

Medium to deep ruby, the aromatics of warm blackberries and blueberries are complemented with lovely notes of pepper, blue flowers, bacon fat, garrigue and mint. It has a medium weight and floods the mouth with concentrated red and blue berry fruits, finely grained and with just enough freshness to lift the finish. 871 cases produced.

WINEMAKER David Ramey
David Ramey started his career in wine with little more than a degree in enology and a dream. Then, after nearly two decades of creating benchmark wines for such California wineries as Matanzas Creek, Chalk Hill, Dominus and Rudd, David Ramey and his wife Carla founded Ramey Wine Cellars in 1996. Owned exclusively by David and his wife Carla, grapes are sourced from vineyards with which David has worked for many years. Their next project will be to purchase land and develop their own vineyards. The winery produces authentic, hand-crafted wines made in an Old World tradition coupled with New World innovation and California terroir. Consistently rated among the best wines in California, the winery remains committed to Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Syrah as its primary varietals.
